Cozy Magic: Make Jez's Cardamom Orange Spritzer from Adenashire (Unofficial Recipe)
The Adenashire series is just about as cozy as it gets! And the third book, A Fellowship of Games & Fables by J. Penner does not disappoint with its sweet Yuletide theme. The story follows a grumpy fennex named Jez who is a fierce friend in need of frequent naps. As with the other stories in this series, we get to delve into the inner world of the main character to learn about who they are on the inside and be part of their journey toward healing.

Aromatic Comfort
As always, there are plenty of tasty baked goods in this installment of the Adenashire series including delicious options with Jez’s favorite flavors: orange and cardamom. With her keen sense of smell, it is no wonder that Jez turns to these delightful flavors with their uplifting aromas!
Sweet Orange Essential Oil
(Citrus sinensis)
Think of the smell of an orange when you peel it—that happy, zesty aroma is just what the essential oil smells like. And indeed, orange essential oil is used to uplift and bring cheerfulness to the moment. It is also used for oily skin. Be sure to use expressed sweet orange essential oil as the distilled oil can be photosensitizing (increase sensitivity to the sun).
Cardamom Essential Oil
(Elettaria cardamomum)
Cardamom smells amazing and complements orange in such a lovely way. As an essential oil, cardamom is used to help soothe nervous tension and fatigue, perfect for Jez! Like the herbal form of this plant, the essential oil is also used topically to help ease digestive upset.
Vanilla Botanical Extract
(Vanilla planifolia)
Beloved for its flavorful addition to recipes, vanilla has long been used to bring depth and delicious aroma to foods. As an herb, it is known as an aphrodisiac and nervine. The aroma of vanilla is calming and cozy. I purchased vanilla botanical extract here.
Cozy Cardamom Sweet Orange Spritzer Recipe
If Jez could create an aromatherapy spritzer to keep her company during her tiring days, perhaps this recipe would be what she would bottle up. It is a soothing comfort that smells reminiscent of orange cardamom cake with a baked vanilla base.
The following recipe makes a four-ounce bottle
Supplies
10 drops sweet orange essential oil
6 drops cardamom essential oil
5 drops vanilla botanical extract
2 teaspoons dispersant such as soluble, vodka (or other spirit), or fractionated coconut oil
4 ounces water
4 ounce bottle with spray top
Note: You can adjust essential oils in this blend to equal up to a total of 24 drops for all of the essential oils combined.
Directions
Add your dispersant to the bottle.
Then add the essential oils and vanilla botanical extract to the bottle.
Swirl to combine into the dispersant. This will help properly and safely dilute the essential oil into the water. Some people don’t use dispersants, the choice is yours.
Fill the bottle almost to the top with water, leaving enough room for the sprayer tube to insert into the bottle.
Then just give it a good shake. Add a label to make it pretty.
To use: simply shake and spray!
NOTE: Use caution with children & elderly, during pregnancy, or with existing health conditions. Follow dilution guidelines.
